From Skee-Ball® to BA-SKEE-BALL: A Capital
One® NCAA® March Madness® Activation
By Skeeter, Skee-Ball
There are some games you don't need to explain.
You see the ramp. You grab a ball. You take your shot.
That instant recognition is part of what has made Skee-Ball® an American classic for more than a century - and it's also what makes the Skee-Ball brand such a unique platform for licensing, experiential marketing and branded activations.
One of our favorite recent examples? Capital One®'s BA-SKEE-BALL.

Capital One transformed the Classic Skee-Ball experience into BA-SKEE-BALL for its NCAA® activation.
A Classic Game, Reimagined for Capital One
As part of Capital One's activation surrounding the NCAA® Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, our Classic Skee-Ball alley took on a completely new identity.
Meet BA-SKEE-BALL.
Capital One transformed the recognizable Skee-Ball experience with custom basketball-inspired branding, creating a game that felt completely at home alongside March Madness® while keeping the gameplay people already know and love.
That's one of the advantages of working with an established brand like Skee-Ball: you don't have to teach people how to engage with it. They see it. They recognize it. And they want to play.

The BA-SKEE-BALL experience became part of Capital One's larger basketball-themed fan activation.
Big Brand. Big Stage. Bigger Activation.
The activation didn't stop with putting a custom Skee-Ball game on the floor.
BA-SKEE-BALL became part of Capital One's larger "Chuck's Got Game" campaign - showing how the Skee-Ball brand can extend well beyond the physical alley and become part of a much broader branded experience.
Capital One brought BA-SKEE-BALL into a campaign featuring major personalities including Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Garner, Shaquille O'Neal and Magic Johnson, connecting an instantly recognizable game with some of the biggest personalities in sports and entertainment.
The licensing opportunity went even further. Capital One licensed the Skee-Ball brand as part of the larger campaign, extending BA-SKEE-BALL into social media filters on TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and X, along with exclusive promotional swag surrounding the Men's and Women's Final Four and Championship games.
One memorable example was a Magic Johnson BA-SKEE-BALL T-shirt, demonstrating how the creative concept could move beyond the physical game and become part of the broader fan experience.
That's where the possibilities around Skee-Ball become much bigger than a customized arcade game.
Customize the game. License the brand. Or build an activation that brings both together.

BA-SKEE-BALL brought together basketball, entertainment and the instantly recognizable Skee-Ball experience.
More Than a Custom Game
For Capital One, this wasn't simply about putting an arcade game at an event. Skee-Ball became part of the creative idea.
BA-SKEE-BALL took something familiar and transformed it into something unmistakably Capital One - while the Skee-Ball brand provided a recognizable platform that could extend across the larger campaign.
That distinction is important.
Brands and experiential marketing agencies can work with Skee-Ball to create a custom physical game or event experience, explore opportunities to license the Skee-Ball name and brand for a broader campaign, or develop an integrated activation that does both.
Capital One demonstrated what that can look like: taking the physical BA-SKEE-BALL experience and extending the idea into advertising, digital engagement, social content and promotional merchandise.
The game can be the centerpiece. The brand can take the idea further.
What Could Your Brand Do with Skee-Ball?
Capital One is just one example of the many ways the Skee-Ball name, game and brand have been licensed over the years.
For experiential marketing agencies, event planners and brands, that opens the door to some pretty interesting possibilities. Imagine a Skee-Ball experience customized around a major sporting event. A branded competition at a corporate activation. Custom alleys designed around a product launch. A social experience that takes the game beyond the event itself. Limited-edition merchandise that gives fans something to take home. Or a larger licensing partnership that brings the Skee-Ball name, imagery and experience into an integrated campaign.
It doesn't have to stop at the alley.
The physical game can create the interaction. The Skee-Ball brand can help carry the idea into content, social, merchandise, promotions and other consumer touchpoints.
Capital One's BA-SKEE-BALL activation is a great example of what can happen when those pieces come together.
Give People Something They'll Actually Play
There are plenty of ways to put a logo in front of people. We think there's something much more powerful about giving them an experience they actually want to participate in.
Skee-Ball is competitive, social, nostalgic, highly visual and easy to understand. It can attract a crowd, create content opportunities and give consumers a reason to spend more time interacting with a brand.
And when the right creative idea comes along, we're always interested in seeing where someone can take Skee-Ball next.
